January 2026 Ski Recap

  • by

For almost the entire rest of the ski season, I will be hosting friends. Not only do I love sharing memorable experiences in the mountains with my bros and brosettes, but having ski partners (especially off-piste) is much appreciated and very reassuring. Plus we can capture action ski photos of each other, a refreshing change from the scenic panoramas that have dominated this season’s blog posts thus far.

As such, meet the newest ASB blog feature. I will begin posting monthly trip reports to summarize my Alps’ experiences. Here is the first installment from last month, which comprised of copious powder conditions.

Even though I’m not a big DJ guy, I still can appreciate a good slopeside rave. It’s hard to believe many of these young revelers walked 20 minutes uphill in sub-freezing temps, on a snowy path, just to arrive to the beats.

After yet another dawn patrol over the Simplon Pass into the Promised Land, we arrived to the Rhone Zone just as the clouds were clearing after a meter of Swiss Pow had fallen from the sky

We caught one of my all time favorite descents and adventures to the valley floor in great conditions

Another memorable day at some random ski area you’ve definetly never heard of

This obscure ski area is reached by many switchbacks through wine vineyards. From the base, you can use the minalimist lift system, then start skinning to some great terrain that sees little skier traffic.

Opening up a zone for the season at the local ski hill

One of my local go to shots was still kind of low tide but has since received several storm cycles fall and is now in shape and ready to be properly sent

High quality powder skiing never gets old. It just doesn’t.

A perfect 12 on the Freeride Index
